((This is deticated to someone I know that lost a family member..)) The rest of the class; including Kayoko, were waiting for the Science teacher, who was five minutes late.. *Hmm..I wonder what's going on..* The Science teacher walked in.. He didn't look his usual strict attitude, Kayoko was a little worried, he also had a serious/sad face on.. Kayoko raised her hand politly. "Sensai? Is something wrong?" The teacher looked at Kayoko. "Arigawa-chan, come out here.." Kayoko nodded and went into the hall with the teacher. *Am I in trouble?...I bet it was because I didn't finish the report!* She heard a light tap on the door, she knew some students were trying to easedrop behind the door. The teacher also knew that, so he said, "Students easedropping will be expelled." A couple rattles and both could hear all were back in there seats. (Aside from some that didn't easedrop anyway.) At least 15 minutes past, the class still silent, some trying to hear what was said. Kayoko opened the door, for once the entire class had seen her have a sad, pale face. "...I see." Kayoko bowed and quickly sat down. She rested her head on the desk, not a sound coming from her. Most close to her asked what was wrong, but Kayoko wouldn't listen or anwser. The teacher looked at Kayoko. "You may skip this period, if you want to, Arigawa-chan" Kayoko looked up and shook her head. "...I'm fine, I'll listen.." She layed her head back down, feeling most eyes on her. *She's dead...It's over.* Kayoko heard someone familiar gentily pat her on the back.. ((Cliffhanger!))

Yasuo watched as a few students stood by the door, listening intently. The voice of the teacher muttering something sent most scurrying back to their seats, but some stayed there. Yasuo gave the two lingerers a death glare, and they obediently returned to their seats as well. Yasuo chuckled evilly.
"I wonder what's going on out there!" someone whispered, sitting next to Yasuo. Others asked the same question, though Yasuo could also hear, "I think Kayoko-san is in trouble!" "Oh man, I'm next. I just know it." "I bet you she gets a week of detention for just speaking to sensai!"
Yasuo slapped his table impatiently, and the class went quiet. "When Kayoko returns, you are all to act as nice as possible to her," Yasuo commanded in a domineering voice. The class nodded, scared by Yasuo. He never spoke much in science class (or anywhere for that matter), and so because of this, many were frightened by this mysterious teen. He gave them all an evil leering stare before lowering his head and grinning darkly.
Kayoko stepped in, and the class began to follow Yasuo's command (those who were sitting near her, of course). The teacher said something to Kayoko, but she denied. She was being strong and Yasuo smiled in approval. He looked back at her, and he could almost tell just by looking at her what had happened. This was no detention or punishment: sensai was being too nice. And that look in her eyes, it was that same look--
"Kayoko..." She ignored him. Yasuo gave a quick look to the sensai, before standing and kneeling by Kayoko's seat. He patted her comfortingly on the back, staring intently at her face.
"...it happens," Yasuo whispered to her. He knew that look from anywhere. It was a sort of emptiness mixed with sadness, loss and regret. Something had gone that couldn't be replaced and only one thing made humans retain that look in their eyes: death. The grim sort of look, vague but at the same time, stunned.
"No one can confidently say that he will still be living tomorrow. But for what is it to die, but to stand in the sun and melt into the wind?" Yasuo muttered. He and Kayoko were friends, and friends know just by looking at one another that something is wrong. True friends can tell exactly what happened. Yasuo could...try to heal it. It was his turn to shoulder Kayoko up, and he wasn't about to let her down.

Kayoko was trying not to listen, but when some classmates heard what Yasuo said, they started the 'I'm sorry' and the 'I feel so sorry for you'. Then, Kayoko did something she had never done before...She snapped. "Please shut up! Saying that won't make ANY difference!" Kayoko's eyes widened as she heard what she said. "...I'm sorry. Sensai..I'll take that offer.." Kayoko left, but not out to her dorm room, just outside of the hall. *One of the people I loved is gone..Leaving me with nothing but memories..* She slumped against a wall. "I feel I should throw myself into the Tama River." ((An actual river in Japan!))

Mika had a free period at the time and was thinking of a walk to the orchids. She was passing trough the Science Wing when she saw Kayoko closing the door of one of the classrooms. Mika furrowed her brows. She looked miserable and what she just said wasn't looking any better. The brunette sighed and walked up to her. "Kayoko-san! I found you," she said, seemingly not noticing her distress. "I wanted to give you a White Day present yesterday, but couldn't find you anywhere," she added, dropping the bag she always carried around at her feet and bending to search fervently trough it. After some time, she finally got out an oddly-shaped package wrapped in green paper. "This is for you. And thank you for the chocolate," she said, giving the package to Kayoko. Mika knew very well how it was to be miserable and not be able to hide it, she had went trough all of that when her mother had died. Ever since, she had wrapped herself up in a cold, hard shell, not letting anyone or anything inside. But she also knew that Kayoko shouldn't do that. Kayoko was too much of a cheerful, happy person to become like her. So she did her best to comfort her by giving her time to think, to cry and to recover. She knew that if people started questioning Kay, she would never answer and would eventually become bitter. But if everyone just gave her time, she'd eventually come around and tell. Mika smiled, but not with the false cheerfulness that always surrounded her, but with true concern in her eyes.
[OOC: The package contains a teddy-bear plushie, heehee.]

Kayoko smiled. "Thank you, Mika-san. It's really sweet.." She looked at the bear and put on another fake smile. "Thanks.."

Yasuo sighed, returning to his desk after Kayoko had fled. He hid his face in his hands and gave a bitter chuckle. "You're no good at comforting people, ya know? Leave it to someone more capable of that. Tomomi would probably be able to do it..hell, anyone could. 'Cept me, of course."
He drifted off in his thoughts. Kayoko would surely do fine - he had gotten over his own troubles the same way. Sudden outbursts and the like..except no one had ever even offered to help. But no matter, Yasuo thought.
And then he began to think over what he had said. 'For what is it to die, but stand in the sun and melt into the wind?' Yasuo grinned, thinking of the times he had stood on hills in the bright day of summer, the warm breeze blowing past his face. How it seemed to become one with his breath, as if he were dissolving into the essence of the earth.
"Does that mean that...I'm dead too?"

Tomomi ran down the hallway like a cheetah, more like a clumsy one, but was fifteen minutes late. "Why'd I have to be late?!" She murmured, running. Tomomi got to the door soon after, but, was going a bit toooooo fast and could stop in time. She slammed into the door making a large BOOM!!! She heard gasps and laughs from the Science room as she sat up on the floor. Tomomi stood and rubbed her head, opened the door and dizzily walked in, "Ow..." Tomomi continued to rub her head and turned to the teacher, "Sorry I'm late. Those omelets in the cafeteria really cause a fuss in the stomach. Yeah. Omelet trouble, this morning." She started to turn around and heard the teacher speak, "First, it was a burnt tongue, then a twisted finger, now OMELET TROUBLES?" Tomomi looked at the teacher coolly, "Yeah." The teacher sighed and waved Tomomi away, "Just sit down please." Tomomi walked to a desk two away from Kayoko and looked over. She did a double-take when she saw, Kayoko was not like herself. A bit sad even. 'Weird.' Tomomi thought, 'I've never seen her like this.' There was a knock on the door, another teacher. The science teacher nodded and went out the door. Tomomi smiled evilly and rubbed her hands together. She scurried over to the door and locked it. Then she went over back to her seat and saw people start to laugh. Tomomi shushed them so not to tell of her doings. She smiled, "Just wait and see what our 'beloved' science teacher does...." The teacher tried to open the door. The teacher twisted it, pulled it, hit it, until the teacher's pet got up and unlocked it. The teacher walked, more like stomped in, fuming with anger. The teacher sat at the main desk and sighed, "Start reading chapter 9, class, page 172. Do questions 1 to 15, except 11." Tomomi looked back over at Kayoko, hoping that she had made even the slightest smile appear on her friend's face.

Kayoko sighed and walked back in. *Thanks, Tomomi. I can't laugh right now, sorry..* She thought as she sat down miserably.

Mika sighed, watching Kay-san go. She wouldn't have done that... She'd've rather went back to her dorm and cried her eyes out. It didn't matter what happened to Kayoko, but it seemed serious. She hoped the plushie would help, it was Mika's favourite present to give out, since it had so many applications. The brunette bit her lip, worrying about Kayoko again, but didn't dare follow her into the classroom. She knew the professor was a pretty... strict one, to put it like that, but that wouldn't have been a problem. She looked at the door expectantly, as though it might burst open if she stared at it long enough. Mika sighed again and left, going back to her dorm to think about all of this over some cookies and tea.

Tomomi acted as if she was writing down questions as the teacher sat around, but was really writing a note saying, "Are you alright?" She flicked it over to Kayoko's desk. She then saw Mika leave, and the teacher doing nothing about it. Then she glanced over. She was asleep. 'Ha!' Thought Tomomi, 'And the teacher thought I was lazy???'
