The darkness of the corridors offered no comfort as Yasuo ran, desperate to escape. He bumped into the walls, his dexterity lost and the usual elegance of his silent movements forgotten. He just continued to run, hands on head, away from a nightmare that had caused him to wake in a cold sweat.
He remembered it so clearly and so vividly that it almost seemed real, as if it were an actual memory instead of a terrible dream. It haunted his very thoughts and caused him to tremble in fear.
Finally, Yasuo slowed to a stop and regained his breath. Silent tears fell from his pain-stricken face. He placed himself on a wall, leaning on it for support. With sob filled breaths, he slid down the length of the wall and came to rest at the bottom.
"Kayoko," he panted. Sweat poured from his forehead, tears still sliding down the length of his nose and past his lips. "Kayoko," he repeated, as if saying her name caused anguish. He had dreamt of loosing her, of her untimely demise, of her gruesome fall in front of his eyes.
Yasuo repeated her name once more, before hiding his head under his arms, rolling himself up.

"Yasuo? Yasuo? Please Yasuo, answer me! I heard screaming in your dorm when I went to get a drink....And when I went to check on you...You were gone! Yasuo!?", Kayoko called out desperately, searching the school with a flashlight. She searched for hours, trying to even find a sign of Yasuo.
"Yasuo...if I lost you...I would never forgive myself....Yasuo!...Yasuo?", Kayoko gasped and looked at him, he was ghostly white with fear, what was wrong? "Yasuo...Oh Yasuo...", She said softly hugging him and rocking him like he was a child that couldn't find their mother.
((On a sidenote: Kayoko said 'Yasuo' 9 times. ^-^))

Her voice had entered Yasuo's ears but he hardly heard her as she spoke. Then he felt himself being rocked, back and forth, by Kayoko. He clung to her arm, knowing that if he let go he'd fall into darkness for eternity.
"Kayoko," he whimpered. His cool was gone and his calm all but present. Yasuo sniffed, holding back more sobs and, without shame, cried into her arm.
"I..I had a nightmare.." He sounded like a little boy who had just ran into his mother's room to seek shelter and comfort.

Kayoko still held him and rocked him as he cried. She felt terrible that he was so scared...And she never saw him like that before. "It's okay...It's all over now..", She said warmly as she continued to rock him, like a mother comforting a child. "...Can you please tell me what the dream was about?"

Yasuo feared the dream and just thinking of it made fresh tears stream down his face, but Kayoko was so caring and so motherly that Yasuo found himself retelling the events of his nightmare.
"It was about you," he sniffed, finally beginning to calm down. "Well, no. It was about us." With a final sigh and a great heave of breath, Yasuo launched into his dream. "You and I were happy, just walking along. I don't know where we were or why we were there. But it didn't matter because as long as we had each other, we'd be okay and not have to worry at all.
"But then...then you suddenly fell. I tried to catch you, but I couldn't get my arm out in time and you fell right through the ground and I only heard your screams before I knew that you'd been...been," he sighed and didn't finish his sentence.
After telling Kayoko, the nightmare sounded childish and Yasuo mentally kicked himself for ever getting upset over such a small thing. However, with growing dread he realized that he was truly scared for Kayoko and the prospect of loosing her caused him to..
"I'm scared...that if I lost you, I wouldn't know what to do. I-I think I'd go crazy!" Yasuo gasped.

Kayoko smiled weakly at Yasuo. "..It's okay. I'd been shot?...I thought I'd tell you this sooner but I forgot, so I'll tell you now." She looked at him in the eye, her silver eyes held sadness and fear. "If I ever die, please remember I'll be watching over you. And I don't want you to be depressed or anything because of my death okay? I don't want to ruin another life, especially yours."

Yasuo held his hand out and caressed her cheek, almost unsure if he was still dreaming. He let a grim smile flicker onto his face before, like a candle out of wax, it burnt out and returned to a depressing frown.
"I wouldn't allow you to die. I saw you struggling for life that day in the cafeteria when you didn't eat, but you were strong. Sometimes I think you're so much stronger than I am," he smiled at her.
With one final sigh, Yasuo lowered his gaze onto the cold floor he was lying on. "The only way you could ever ruin my life, Kayoko, is if you stopped loving me."

Kayoko hugged Ysauo. "I'll never do that. I won't even stop loving you if one of us dies." She smiled warmly at him. "There will only be one person in this world for me."

Yasuo returned Kayoko's warm hug and he blissfully forgot what he was even here for. With a contentful sigh, Yasuo placed his head on Kayoko's shoulder and said in caring voice.
"Thank you. I'm glad to know that I won't ever be alone..not anymore."

Kayoko nodded and smiled a little. "Yasuo...You already know about me. Can...If it's not too much of a burden...you tell me about yourself?"
